Great Northern Traditional Longbow
Traditional Longbow
The Traditional Longbow is Great Northern’s original offering and remains a favorite among archers who appreciate the timeless feel and performance of a true straight-limbed longbow. Built with exceptional stability and the smooth draw expected from a finely crafted traditional bow, it delivers the refined shooting characteristics serious bowhunters demand.
Featuring sleek, narrow limbs with a slight setback design, the Traditional Longbow measures 1 1/8” wide at the fadeouts and tapers to 9/16” at the string nocks, creating an elegant profile with excellent balance and handling. Archers who favor straight-limbed, deep-cored longbows consistently praise the performance, smoothness, and shooting manners of this design.
The 15” riser measures approximately 4 3/4” around the leather handle wrap and is available in your choice of Dymondwood combinations. Limb cores are available in red elm, osage, hickory, or bamboo, with tip power wedges matched to the riser wood selection.
Performance is further enhanced by the precise trapezoid limb cross-section, which reduces limb mass, minimizes hand shock, and increases arrow speed. As an added refinement, traditional tip overlays have been replaced with limb power wedges for improved durability, appearance, and overall efficiency.
All Great Northern bows are designed with the bowhunter in mind. We refuse to sacrifice smoothness, stability, or pointability for a few extra feet per second. The result is a balanced, dependable hunting bow built for real-world performance in the field.
Over the years, Great Northern bows have evolved into exceptionally efficient hunting tools. From the longer Traditional Longbow to compact models like the Lil’ Creep, every bow is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail and built to last a lifetime or two.
We take great pride in our craftsmanship, and we believe it shows in every bow we build. Our best recommendations come from the bowhunters already shooting Great Northern bows. Rather than make grand claims, we invite you to shoot one yourself and experience the difference firsthand.
